Ready or Not...Christmas is Coming!

I can't believe that Christmas time is almost here! I love the time between Halloween and Christmas but it seems the time goes by way too quickly! I have been busy working on my graduate classwork and when I'm not doing that I am working on putting more items on teacherspayteachers.com. It has been fun and exciting to create new things for other teachers and make a little money on the side....and I mean a little money! Here are just a few things I have recently posted...

Dr. Jean Fever!

My coworkers and I had an opportunity to go to the Tennessee Kindergarten Conference in Nashville this week. How exciting it was to meet and talk with Dr. Jean and come away with so many new ideas! It got me excited about teaching again and gave me that boost I needed to get out of my "rut". Now I have many new ideas swimming around in my head and can't wait to create them! Hope to work on them over Thanksgiving break...stay tuned!

Cruising into the 50th Day of School!

We are quickly nearing the 50th day of school and we plan to do what we do best in kindergarten...CELEBRATE! We have learned so much in these short 50 days including counting to 50 by ones and tens and we want to celebrate with a trip back in time to the 1950s. In addition to counting to 50 many times, we will be doing lots of "1950s" activities including bowling, a bubble blowing contest, learning the Hand Jive & the Jitterbug, having a Sock Hop, and of course topping the day off with Coke Floats! "Fall-ing" in Love With Kindergarten!

It is hard to believe we are already one quarter of the way through the school year! We are looking forward to our first field trip on Oct. 24th to Guthrie Farm & Pumpkin Patch that we had to reschedule due to rain. Can't wait to get in the mud and pick our own pumpkins and feed the farm animals!

My Neglected Blog!

The last year or so has been a whirlwind and my poor blog is showing evidence of that! I had actually forgotten about my blog until I recently began following other teacher's blogs and all of the sharing and great ideas has truly gotten me excited about teaching once again! I won't promise frequent updates, but I'll do my best to keep it somewhat current.

Welcome to 2010! I trust you all had a wonderful Christmas break and 2010 has gotten off to a great start for you. January looks to be not only a very cold month but a very busy month as well. Below are some upcoming events.

January 15th Field Trip to the Tennessee Aquarium (Free!)

January 18th- No School for ML King Holiday

January 21st- 100th Day of School Celebration (unless we have any snow days before then!)

Bundle up & enjoy the winter weather, for spring will be here before you know it!

Christmas Came Early!

I wrote and recieved a grant titled "Raising the Math Standards" from the Bradley/Cleveland Public Education Foundation in the amount of $500. It was like an early Christmas opening up those boxes of new math materials with 23 excited kindergarteners and 1 excited teacher. Thank you BCPEF for making learning so much fun!

Migrating Geese

We learned that some animals get ready for the winter by migrating. Whales, locust, Monach Butterflies, and geese are some of the animals that migrate. Here we are pretending to be Canadian Geese flying from the north to the south in a V formation. When we reached the south, we found fish to eat (goldfish)!

We Love Our New Interactive Boards!

We are so excited about our new Promethean Boards. This new technology will change the way students learn forever! Anything that can be done on the computer can now be done on our board. It is interactive so it gets the kids up and moving and actively involved in the learning process. The possiblities are endless with this new technology purchased with education stimulas funds.
